Consistent with the firm’s culture of alignment with limited partners and management teams, these services are offered to portfolio companies without charge.
Capital Markets
The Capital Markets Group assists the firm’s investment teams and portfolio companies in all aspects of financing activity: form/structure of transaction, lender/underwriter/adviser selection, transaction terms, and execution. The group brings the full benefit of the firm’s experience in capital markets (which includes more than 150 IPOs across sectors and on every major exchange in the world, acquisition finance, merger advisory engagements, public and private market trades, swap agreements, etc.) and the firm’s extensive relationships to bear, regardless of sector, size, form or region.
Digital Strategy & Innovation
Warburg Pincus believes technology is a core aspect of every investment the firm makes. The Digital Strategy & Innovation Group offers assistance to portfolio companies on issues related to mergers and carveouts, product strategy, and digital transformations. On product strategy, assistance includes product market and customer fit assessments, technology strategy and execution assessments, data monetization strategies, and acceleration approaches for software development activities. On digital transformations, assistance includes advice on identifying opportunities to leverage digital strategies and emerging technologies, such as AI and ML, to create new growth platforms and/or enable new and disruptive business models. The group also assists with talent assessments and recruiting for product, data, and technology leadership roles across the portfolio.
Leadership Development & Organizational Effectiveness
The Leadership Development and Organizational Effectiveness function provides advice and guidance on talent and C-team structure across all of the firm’s investing areas, assisting with pre- and post-investment situations. The function focuses on executive management, organizational structure, and talent identification, assessment, and development. In the area of talent identification, the group works with deal teams to lead, coordinate, and support senior level management searches for the portfolio.
Shared Services
Warburg Pincus’ Shared Services function assists our portfolio companies in driving value across all stages of their growth lifecycle. Services include a network of industry professionals to provide strategic assessments for procurement, employee benefits, and various risk exposures; a portfolio of preferred vendor relationships and subject matter experts who deliver a consistent and high level of service/advise on key operational areas; review and identification of consortium opportunities to drive savings in indirect spend categories; support for standing-up de-novo operations and new offices; and advise on real estate related transactional matters.
Communications & Marketing
The Communications & Marketing Group helps portfolio companies with a wide variety of digital and print communications, marketing, and investor relations services. These include counseling on strategic initiatives, assisting with crisis/issues management, providing media relations support, and introductions to agencies in the areas of advertising, brand, digital/web, direct mail, investor relations and public relations.
Global Public Policy & Political Risk / Environmental, Social and Governance
The Global Public Policy & Political Risk/ Environmental, Social and Governance Group assists the firm’s investment teams and portfolio companies in assessing political risk and addressing challenging governmental and regulatory issues throughout the world, particularly in emerging markets. The group also advises and assists on policy-related issues both globally and at the federal and state level in the United States. In addition, this group offers assistance to portfolio companies in developing environmental, social and governance policies and provides advice on ways to improve energy efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and support programs that enhance corporate social responsibility and good corporate governance.
Value Creation Interlock
In addition to the specific areas of Investment Support, the firm also has a network of global operational resources with an average of 25 years of industry experience. “Value Creation Interlock” (VCI) is a process the firm has created to catalyze growth initiatives and leverage these Investment Support and Operational resources. Importantly, VCI is management-led and portfolio-driven and is focused in identifying and prioritizing the key areas where Warburg Pincus’ capabilities can be brought to bear. Examples of VCI workstreams include business process optimization, managed services offerings, and go-to-market optimization. Consistent with the firm’s culture of alignment with its investors and management partners, these services are offered without charge.
