Kosmos Energy Holdings

In 2003, Warburg Pincus invested in Kosmos Energy Holdings Ltd. (Kosmos), an E&P company focused primarily on deepwater exploration and development activities in emerging and frontier offshore basins in West Africa, Latin America, and Europe along the Atlantic Margin. The company’s strategy is to develop differentiated geological theses to create a competitive advantage in exploring for large oil reserves in historically underexplored areas. Warburg Pincus played an integral role in Kosmos’ development, including working with the management team to establish the business plan, provide capital, and enhance the company’s Board through the appointment of independent directors. Kosmos completed its IPO on the New York Stock Exchange in May 2011 and completed a secondary listing on the London Stock Exchange in August 2017. Warburg Pincus exited Kosmos through a series of secondary share sales from February 2013 to April 2019.
