Warburg Pincus invested in Hygiena in 2016. Hygiena is a global leader in rapid diagnostics for food safety and other essential, regulated end-markets. Hygiena offers a full range of food safety products from rapid surface tests to verify sanitation to molecular-based tests that are used to identify the presence or absence of pathogens such as E. coli. In partnership with Warburg Pincus, Hygiena professionalized its management team, including hiring a Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Human Resources, and invested in the business to drive growth by tripling its sales force. In 2017, Hygiena completed a transformative acquisition of Qualicon, DuPont’s food safety diagnostics business. Warburg Pincus exited Hygiena in 2021 following a sale to a strategic partner.
