Turnitin / iParadigms
In 2008, Warburg Pincus invested in Turnitin, an Oakland, CA based provider of academic integrity and digital assessment. Turnitin is the industry standard content repository used by instructors to deter cheating, grade assignments, identify at-risk students, and provide real-time pedagogical feedback. Warburg Pincus worked with Turnitin to recruit and onboard both a CFO and a CEO who would be able to successfully execute the company’s growth initiatives. Warburg Pincus partnered with the Turnitin team to launch several new products, which significantly increased revenue per client and profitability. The Warburg Pincus team also supported Turnitin through its acquisition of nLearning to establish a meaningful office presence in Europe, accelerating global growth and market adoption. The acquisition helped Turnitin build out a sales presence in major international markets such as Germany, Brazil, Korea, and Mexico. Warburg Pincus exited Turnitin in 2014.
